In this episode of The Classical Guitar Corner Podcast, Simon tells the story of Classical Guitar Corner in celebration of this, our 10-year anniversary! There have been lots of twists and turns along the way but we couldn’t be more grateful for this amazing community that Simon brought together, from an attic no less, 10 years ago. Thank you, Simon! We hope you enjoy the episode, and please share some of your own stories with how you got connected with CGC in the comments below.
Happy 10th Anniversary Simon!
Happy Anniversary Simon!
I am so thankful for CGC. Such a stroke of luck it was that I found the online Guitoberfest back in 2015. It introduced me to you and Classical Guitar Corner. It’s been a joy to be a member and to experience how the Academy has developed and grown over these years.
Your teaching style is excellent, clear, precise and professional! Summer School was a fantastic experience three times in a row. Obviously, Corona threw a shadow over 2020. In spite of it all, however, a very special CGC community keeps us in contact and thinking positive!
Happy 10th Anniversary, CGC!!
Wishing you 10 more! Thank you for making learning the classical guitar so exceptional.
Simon,
Happy 10th Anniversary! I enjoyed the backstory on the site, and your online teaching journey. You are a force for good in the guitar community, and in the world.
I guess time flies when your having fun, because I remember you introducing Dave to the community, but didn’t remember it being that long ago. (seems like about a year – yikes!)
Good luck and wishes for many more.
Richard
Happy 10th. Not sure how I found CGC but glad I did.
Thank you for being here! I am looking forward to starting my journey back to the classical guitar. I enjoy your teaching style and thoroughness. Blessings!
How wonderful to learn your history! Intriguing from beginning to end. Happy 10th Anniversary! I’ve only been on board 1 year but I look forward to being in this incredible community for the next 10 years. Thank you for sharing! Thank you for following your vision we are the ones benefiting!
Happy 10th Anniversary Simon! I enjoyed learning more of the story. Thank you for the CGC experience—-excellent instruction along with an engaging guitar community. Happy 2021 and forward!
Happy 1st Decade Anniversary!!! Thank you Simon for an awesome story – very inspirational.
Thank you for this special episode on the 10+ years of journey of a musician, his friends and partners, teachers and students, supporters and collaborators.
Happy 10th Anniversary!
Happy 10th year anniversary! I’m so grateful for finding this academy and being part of the CGC community. I enjoyed listening to your story Simon and how CGC evolved through these past 10 years. I also think your teaching style is very effective and not boring at all. I’ve never learned and truly understood classical guitar playing as much as I do now than with any of my past instructors. Looking forward to another great decade!
Just listened to your podcast Simon .
Your sincerity, integrity and genuine passion for your craft combined with your clear desire to fulfil the potential of us lesser mortals , is most inspiring .
I wish you well in your endeavours…. ( even if you did cost me money in losing a bet to my partner who assured me, ( despite my lack of faith ), that you would respond to me email personally when I told her I was thinking of signing up to the Academy !
All the best for 2021
Happy Anniversary Simon! And many thanks for your vision and effort in putting together the Academy, you were definitely the Right Person at the Right Time! I am so glad I found this community. Best wishes for the next decade!
Happy 10th Anniversary CGC Academy! I feel so fortunate to be a tiny part of this incredible community. The synergy generated from within is almost unbelievable. My experience as a raw beginner in my early 60’s years ago has given my life a richness and completeness that I could only dream of early on. Everything in my musical life is better with the Academy and it’s people!
Happy 10th Anniversary, Simon! It was great to hear the story of how it all began! Finding CGC was life-changing for me and even more of blessing in 2020! I’m so glad to be part of this wonderful community!

Well-deserved congratulations to you Simon and your colleagues/partners Dave and Nikki! You all do a wonderful job taking care of the community and inspiring us in the very big world of classical guitar. I look forward to the next 10 years as well and here’s to a great 2021 as we leave 2020 behind. It will get better for us all – having CGC is definitely part of that!

Happy Anniversary, Simon and CGCA! Simon, Nikki, Dave — and everyone! I finally had a chance to catch up on my podcasts on an “end of the year” river walk with Dale the airedale this morning. It was really fun to hear you reminisce about days in the attic and early ventures on the internet. I wish you had talked a bit more about the podcasts. It was your first and second podcast that jumped out at me and caught my attention. Since then, those podcasts — along with Roger’s of course — have been for me a very important part of this community — along with so much else. I sometimes re-listen to favorites. Gosh, I’ll never forget arriving at the first summer school at Endicott and walking out of the dorm thinking “hmmm, I wonder what this will be like?” And the very first person I met when I walked out of the door was Roger! As I trudged along the trails and listened to the podcast, I found myself thinking, not for the first time: wow, what good karma to have found the CGCA community. Bravo and best wishes for 2021!
