One of the things that makes the community at CGC Academy so special is how willing so many of our members are to put themselves out there and share performances, works in progress, and to take risks knowing that they will have the full support and encouragement of the entire CGCA community behind them. We like to spotlight some of those members for you here so you can check out what our Academy members have been up to from time to time (often a culmination of the hard work they’ve been putting in at the Academy through the curriculum, grade exams, and coaching calls).
This month we’re featuring Academy member Steve Battazzo playing two of Leo Brouwer’s Estudios Sencillos: no. 2, a slow chorale, and no. 9, a more “rock n roll” (to use Steve’s description) etude with lots of energy and slurs. Offer Steve congratulations in the comments below!
Steve .., well done … cheers from Iowa … three cheers for you efforts. Stephen Holland

Bravo, Steve! Sounds great!
Really enjoyed the pieces–one for contemplation and one for get-up-and-go. The feeling really came across. Congrats!
YEAH STEVE!!! Really nicely done…you play so well. You really brought out the two different moods of these pieces. A joy to listen to them. Thanks, JR

Steve I just love your Brouwer. Especially 9. I’m working on it but you nailed it! Love your tempo!
Steve, as one who has been struggling with #9, and knows from this the challenges – wow, you played it beautifully. Steve Courtney
